If you are interested in becoming a private investigator, there are several requirements you’ll need to fulfill before you can apply for a private investigator license. Let’s explore these today!
You would have to meet some basic requirements to become a Private Investigator in Singapore. One of the most important and basic ones would be to obtain a license from the Singapore Police Force. This license would cost you a non-refundable processing fee of $16 with a validity of five years.
In order to qualify, an individual has to be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, and cannot be an undischarged bankrupt or have any involvement in unlawful activities. In order to get a license, you would have to go through a 6 day Information Collection course, performing investigation activities in compliance with legal requirements, and pass the test conducted by NTUC Learning Hub.
Does that mean you’re ready to become a full-fledged private investigator after doing those steps listed above? While you are now licensed to put your skills to use, it’s also a good idea to get some work experience with a private investigation firm where you can ,learn the skills on site and get first-hand, on-the-job, real-world experience. That’s why it is advisable to apply directly with licensed private investigation agencies that are recruiting trainee private investigators. These agencies will require you to go through their own inhouse training, such as on the art of surveillance and how to use the latest evidence gathering equipment.
