Private investigators have existed for more than 150 years. The first known private investigation agency started in France in 1833. During those days private detective is known as ” private eye” The term “private eye” comes from the Pinkerton Detective Agency logo.
In Singapore, Private Investigators need to obtain a private investigator’s license from the Singapore Police Force.
The basic requirement to be a Singapore Private Investigator is
1. You have to be 18 years old
2. Be a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Singapore
3. Free from criminal records
4. Pass the WSQ module of “Perform Investigation Activities in Compliance with Legal Requirements (PI)
Once you succeeded in obtaining a private investigator license, you can apply to join a private investigation agency.
